not be able to be worked on. He will go from 28th to
36th Street. There was discussion on how the road is
going to be milled and repaved; the sidewalks are
going to be replaced at the corners to dove down to
the pavement and make the crossing comply with ADA
standards. Steve will be starting at 8:00 AM on
Saturday unless it is raining hard.
Harold said he saw Lee Groth recently; he will be
having some physical therapy for his back and he
will not be in attendance today.
Greg Warsen: said that Kelloggsville is trying to
get businesses involved from 44th to 54th. Wayne

Kelloggsville.
Looking for signage to identify Kelloggsville
boundaries. Community pride day is September 17th.
Harold said that he is trying to contact businesses
in the 44th-54th Street area. He has talked to
Skelter Dog Groomers who has some misconceptions
about the purpose of DABA. Tom said he would contact
her. Harold also contacted Advance Auto.
Tim added that O’Reilly’s is going into the old
Goodwill Store. There is also a coffee shop going in
on Division called Crazy Bean.
Tim Cochran: said that the Sign Committee has been
meeting. Their next meeting is on September 15th at
5:00 PM. They will be discussing wall banner and
window signs. The overall recommendations are likely
to be more liberal than the current regulations.
Some signs will be allowed without a permit fee and
some will require a fee.
There will be a meeting regarding the Master Plan
for 28th Street on October 7, 2010 at the Library
from 11AM-1:PM and again from 6PM-8PM. The purpose
is to get input for direction for the Master Plan.

Division Avenue. Marketing information is now
becoming available.

September 30th to talk about transit and plans to

paying a bill of $191 for insurance bringing the
total to $2,578.54.
Adopt a Block: have collected two more fees.
Tom discussed funding for the maintenance of the
gateway at 28th and Division. The overpass has been
repainted and now we need to find a way to maintain
the area. Burton Neighborhood Association has
pledged $500; Tom is requesting that DABA also
pledge $500. They are also trying to save money on
maintenance by turning off sprinklers, turning off
lights, etc. Steve said he thought that the
sprinklers had broken anyway and were turned off.
They will also check into partnering with the Croc
Center to maintain the properties together. It was
suggested that the organization look at probationers
to maintain. This would be free. Tom said that the
entity that would get the check is called
Neighborhood Ventures.
After discussion,
A motion was made by DeGood with support from
Kubicek to approve $500 for the maintenance of the
Gateway area at Division and 28th Street.

Chief Carmody indicated that the Police Department
working on the prostitution problem.
The Police Department has made a presentation to the
DDA regarding the parolees that are being housed at
the Grand Rapids Inn. There are 90 parolees there at
this time. 63 of these are sex offenders.
Discussion ensued about this problem and ways to
remedy it through legislation.
Chief Carmody said that area will notice in the
future a speed limit increase on Wyoming streets,
due to a state law that requires speed limits to be
set the limit at the actual speed that 85% of
vehicles are moving. This will result in higher
speed limits. Research indicates that while there
may not be an increase in accidents, the number of
injuries in the higher speed crashes has increased. |
